Earth day 2022 and Sustainability in construction

A key talking point at the moment in the construction industry is of course net zero and sustainability.

Last updated on 25 January 2023

The pandemic has brought both challenges and opportunity for the sector and whilst 2022 is expected to bring its own set of difficulties, on the whole growth opportunities will be there to be captured.

The industry seems to have recovered better than initially expected during the pandemic and has come out stronger in the recovery period, with furlough and business bounce back schemes playing a big part. Ongoing uncertainty around Covid-19, the full implications of Brexit, labour and ongoing material shortages will all have an impact well into the first quarter of 2022.

As with many sectors sustainability will be top of the agenda this year, with increasing demand to reduce the carbon footprint at every stage of the construction process.

We at Denaploy are also doing our bit for the Earth as we are a company accredited ISO14001 which is a basic commitment to improve environmental performance and meet policy commitments and objectives.

Our whole involvement in creating digital O&M manuals has saved thousands of trees in moving the industry into transferring handover documentation from the old style of rooms full of lever arch files to a purely digital environment. And this saves not only the paper and trees but the cost of creating drafts, the logistics of moving them about, the cost of moving people about to review and revise the material.

All this at the same time as improving the quality of what is delivered and reducing the cost to the Main Contractors.
